The wonderful artist behind this masterpeice is Christine Burris. She was born in Portland, Oregon, Christine took to art as soon as she was able to hold a pencil.  Summers spent sailing in the San Juan Islands and her family’s favorite hikes in Mt. Rainier National Park carved permanent images in her mind’s eye of the Puget Sound Region. These experiences continue to influence her work.   An honors graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, Christine was influenced by sculptor Tom Torrens and glass artist Mark Gulsrud.

Since 1993, Christine has been teaching Glass, Ceramics, Sculpture, Drawing and Painting at Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, Washington.  As a strong supporter of her community, Christine donates selected pieces to charities such as the Gig Harbor History Museum, Washington Water Trails Association, The Community Inclusion Program, and The Peninsula High School Booster Club.
Christine is also an avid Hiker and Sea Kayaker volunteering with BSA and Venture Crew 220, leading trips and teaching with the Tacoma Mountaineers, Kayak Academy and now with Rogue Wave Adventures.

She has two sons: Kyle age 22, and Colin age 25 who have literally grown up in the studio and classroom.  They often help her with her work.
